Sulfuric Acid Shortages and What They Mean for Cleaning Products

Recent reports have raised concerns about global sulfuric acid shortages connected to disruptions in West Asia and the Strait of Hormuz. Sulfuric acid is used in many industries, including fertilizers, mining, steel processing, rubber, detergents, and certain industrial cleaning products.

When an ingredient like sulfuric acid becomes harder to source, companies that depend on it may face higher costs, limited availability, or changes in production. In some cases, those costs can eventually show up in the price customers pay.

For Quartz Mountain customers, there is an important difference: Quartz Mountain cleaning products do not use sulfuric acid. That means this specific sulfuric acid shortage does not directly affect our formulas, production, or product cost structure.

LimeSolv, CoilSolv, and Quartz Mountain Industrial Strength Degreaser are designed for hard water buildup, dirty coils, oils, lubricants, and grease without relying on sulfuric acid as an ingredient.

So while some cleaning products may be affected by sulfuric acid shortages, Quartz Mountain is not exposed to that particular issue. For our customers, that means one less supply chain concern when choosing the cleaning products they need.
